The armor and garments worn by The Knights of The Guild are made by professional armorers and costumers who fashion each custom-fit piece by hand in accordance with authentic historical design. Each full harness (suit of armor), for example, can weigh up to 70 pounds, cost several thousand dollars, and take approximately six months to manufacture.
The historical display items used by our Knights are meticulously made, fully functional reproductions. A presentation at your school by The Knights of The Guild is truly like bringing a museum to the classroom.
One origin of the word, "Knight", is the French term "chevalier", which refers to a mounted warrior. In a tactical partnership of power, Knights and their steeds were to medieval armies what armored tanks are to our modern military. While a Knight could own several different types of horses for various purposes, only special horses were bred and trained for use in war or Tournament.
It is this variety of mighty, majestic animal that occupies the Stables of The Knights of The Guild. Hailing from several different countries, including Friesians from Holland and Flemish horses from Belgium, our horses perform with the grace of their ancestors in Guild shows across the nation. They are raised and trained at our beautiful facilities in Texas and Oklahoma, where they receive the finest care available anywhere.
