SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING FOR STUDENTS

The Knights of The Guild offer two different social skills training opportunities for school students. The first is a series of one-time assembly presentations called, “Adventures in Character”. The second is our year-round, national award-winning curriculum-based program.

Adventures in Character Assemblies

Our exclusive Adventures in Character student assemblies are uniquely effective educational experiences that reinforce positive character traits, life skills, anti-violence/substance abuse awareness, and self-esteem concepts through a visually captivating journey back in time to the days of valiant Knights and elegant Ladies. These national award-winning assemblies carefully comply with state guidelines on character education, supporting all research-based character building programs, Safe & Drug Free Schools and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Social Studies criteria. Federal funding may be available!

I. Adventures in Character Assemblies

THE KNIGHT LIFE
Scenario: Indoor historical presentation by a real knight
Personnel: One armored knight
Duration: 45 minutes

In this unforgettable, interactive assembly, your students will be visited by one of our Knights in shining armor, who will present a captivating presentation on a Knight’s life and influence upon society. Your students will learn about training for Knighthood, be inspired by the biographies of heroic male and female knights, see a display of authentic museum replicas, and discover how living by the time-honored Code of Chivalry applies to interpersonal relationships today. One of our most popular student assemblies, The Knight Life will separate historical fact from Hollywood fiction and motivate young people toward the highest ideals of personal excellence and noble character.

THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Scenario: Gallant knights and valiant steeds in royal tournament competition
Personnel: Three armored knights, squires, audio technician
Duration: 45 Minutes

The amazing Tournament of Champions will give your students and staff the spectacular experience of taking part in a medieval jousting tournament and cheering for their favorite knights while learning about such qualities as respect, excellence, confidence, and honor. Just like being in the midst of a motion picture, they will witness armored knights and beautifully costumed horses in action and thrill to extraordinary feats of knightly horsemanship. Held on your athletic field, The Tournament of Champions is our most popular presentation and includes professional narration, fun audience participation and exciting musical soundtracks!

THE MAKING OF A CHAMPION (option "A")
Scenario: Knights demonstrate non-competitive martial skill on horseback
Personnel: Two mounted knights, squire, audio technician
Duration: 45-minutes

Our knights will demonstrate how champions would prepare themselves and their warhorses for tournament or war, illustrating the use of various heavy cavalry equipment. Imparting the importance of perseverance and striving for personal excellence, this presentation includes narration, audience interaction and music.

THE MAKING OF A CHAMPION (option "B")
Scenario: Static display with a knight and heavy warhorse
Personnel: One knight and squire
Duration: 45-minutes

The Knights of The Guild raise and train direct descendents of the legendary medieval Great Horse, imported from Europe. Known as Flemish horses, these one-ton equine athletes stand up to nine feet in height (much larger than the famous Clydesdales) and were famous for carrying heavily armored Knights onto the battle and tournament fields of medieval Europe. In this static display, an armored knight will introduce the audience to one of our Great Horses in full battle gear and allow members of the audience to climb up for a ride! Students will learn the importance of discipline and preparation in overcoming difficult challenges, such as state testing.
